MESSAGE OF THE AMBASSADOR

H.E. Mr. Martin Mpana, Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to China

On March 26, 1971, Cameroon and China laid a historic and far-reaching foundation for the future of both countries and at the international level. Today facts bear  witness of this.

Our relations have grown steadily in various fields and ever since both countries have maintained rich, diversified, confident, excellent and mutually beneficial relations.

They were marked by exchanges of high level visits. From 1997 to 2016, the following Chinese Leaders visited Cameroon: President HU JINTAO in 2007, Premiers LI PENG and ZHU RONGJI, respectively in 1997 and 2002, the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CCPPC), Mr. JIA QINGLIN, in 2010, Vice Premier HUI LIANG YU in January 2011, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. WANG YI in January 2015.

On the Cameroonian side, the President of the Republic of Cameroon, H.E. Mr. PAUL  BIYA visited China six times: in March 1987, October  1993, September 2003, November 2006, July 2011 and March 2018. The President of the National Assembly the Rt. Hon. CAVAYE  YEGUIE DJIBRIL  lead an important parliamentary delegation in December 2009 in Beijing.   In June 2015, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cameroon H.E. PHILEMON YANG  carried out the first ever official visit of a Cameroonian Prime Minister to China. Besides, several members of the Cameroonian Government have carried out visits to the People’s  Republic of China.

The frequency and the cordiality  of these visits clearly show the density of our cooperation.

Moreover, many achievements in Cameroon attest to the vitality of our cooperation. Mainly the LAGDO Hydropower Dam , the Yaoundé Congress Hall , the Yaoundé and Douala Gynaeco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospitals , the Yaoundé Multipurpose sports Complex, the KRIBI deep Sea Port, etc.

China is also involved in several other major investment projects in Cameroon in the fields of energy, agriculture, water distribution, transportation infrastructures, telecommunication,  etc.

The cultural sector is also expanding with the opening of the Confucius Institute in 2009 and an increase in the number of Cameroonian students in China.

This website portrays  the major achievements of almost fifty years of cooperation between Cameroon and China and provides the reader and those who wish to contribute to the success of this partnership in the future with useful information on Cameroon and its business environment, business opportunities and incentives, as well as our development plan, etc.

It is also a useful tool for Cameroonians in quest of various information and services from our Embassy.

Finally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all those within or out of the Embassy who brought their contribution for the construction of this website and to those who are involved in keeping it updated on a daily basis.

We remain open to all valuable suggestions to make this platform always more useful for our own interest and that of all of our visitors.

Long live the friendship between Cameroon and China!

H.E. Mr. Martin Mpana

Ambassador
